Introducing

Irina Serdyukovskaya
, Freelance SEO Consultant. Based in Italy - Irina is currently studying a masters degree and works as an independent specialist helping small companies and start-ups with SEO strategies and implementations. We asked her everything from how she first got into SEO to what empowers her to be the brilliant woman she is 💪🏽

How did you get into SEO?

After university, I joined a small company where we launched different online projects: e-commerce shops and blogs. There I learned all about SEO being a source of traffic and sales, especially when you don't have a budget for advertisement.

In 2018, I started a new career path in an international start-up where I had a great opportunity to deepen my knowledge of SEO and work across different countries and markets.

What is your favourite SEO task?

I enjoy both Technical SEO and Content Strategy. For Tech SEO, I enjoy searching for and fixing different issues and for Content Strategy, I enjoy finding the right keywords and creating ideas that help drive traffic.

What is your go-to tool or resource that you can't live without?

I am a fan of both AHrefs and Sitebulb. I also can't work with extensions such as Linkparser, Redirect Path and more.

What is something you learned in SEO that made you have an 'AHA' moment?

I think that I had a lot of 'AHA' moments during my first year focusing on SEO.

I realised that "You don't know what you don't know".

What is your proudest industry achievement?

One of my first Digital PR project when I received coverage from some of the biggest media publications, it was back when Digital PR wasn't very common. I'm also very proud of the SEO training that I've provided small companies to help them understand SEO better.

What advice would you give women who are starting out in SEO?

It's important to feel joy and enjoy the process while you're working. Make sure that you choose what feels right for you. Learn more from experienced people, talk to them and adopt different things in your everyday.

Give a shout out to a woman in the industry who inspires you and tell us why

It's hard to choose as there are a lot of great women I've worked with. I'm amazed by Alexandra Tachalova who shares a lot of her knowledge and organises lots of SEO events.

Finally, what empowers you to be the brilliant woman you are?

It is important to live your own life, not someone else's.
