Introducing Britt Hyatt! She is a Web designer. SEO strategist. Pop culture enthusiast. Britt is the founder of Pop Impactโ„ข, where bold, purpose-driven websites arenโ€™t just pretty, they perform. With 15+ years of experience, her team helps creative entrepreneurs build online spaces that get seen, get results, and give back.

How did you get into SEO?

At my previous design agency that I co-founded years ago, I was starting to realize that while I could design beautiful websites, they weren't actually making a difference in getting more traffic to a website OR in conversions. When I realized that SEO was the answer to creating websites that could look good AND perform well, I knew I had to dive more into learning about it.

What is your favourite SEO task?

Competitor research, for sure! When a client thinks someone is a competitor but, in reality, they're not an organic competitor, it really opens their eyes!

What is your go-to tool or resource that you can't live without?

Google Chrome Extension of "SEO Meta in one click"! It's so random, but it's my sanity check when it comes to on-page SEO and finding some sneaky tags that don't belong. ;)

What is something you learned in SEO that made you have an 'AHA' moment?

While you shouldn't ignore 0 volume keywords, if you don't mix them in with other keywords that DO have proven searches each month, you'll be #1 on Google for keywords but STILL not see any changes in traffic or web performance.

What is your proudest industry achievement?

Getting multiple photographers to rank #1 with keywords that are SUPER competitive in their local area.

What advice would you give those who are starting out in SEO?

Don't become hyper obsessed with daily fluctuations in traffic or rankings. Instead, look at everything over a few weeks time. If something continues to trend downwards, then take action. But, one day, or one week, isn't enough to make an informed decision to change an SEO strategy.

Give a shout out to someone in the industry who inspires you, and tell us why

Dana DiTomaso! Dana's GA4 course has saved my life more than once. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Honestly, if I can speak analytics even a fraction as well as Dana does one day, I would LOVE it.

Finally, what empowers you to be the brilliant person you are?

If you don't try the scary thing, the answer will always be no!
