Want to pitch to speak at a conference but don’t know where to start?

This training course is for you!

WTSTraining: How to craft a speaker pitch

"WTSTraining: How to craft a speaker pitch" is a Women in Tech SEO initiative. It's a live cohort-based training course, for women in the SEO field, to coach and support them in creating strong speaker pitches.

Meet the team

Thanks to the generous support of our WTSPartners, we're able to cover our trainer's fee. Our program trainer, Hannah Smith has more than 15 years of experience in the SEO industry. Hannah's creative work for clients has won multiple awards, and she’s spoken at numerous conferences including MozCon, SMX, SearchLove, and BrightonSEO.

In this course, you'll learn:

  • What makes a good conference talk

  • How to figure out what to talk about

  • How to structure your talk

  • What makes a good speaker pitch from a conference organiser’s perspective

  • How to write a strong speaker pitch

Attendees will leave the course with a well-crafted speaker pitch which has been both peer-reviewed, and reviewed by our program trainer, Hannah Smith; and a renewed confidence in their own ability to take to the stage.

Course structure

The course will run over four weeks, throughout the month of September. Workshop sessions will be an hour long, and delivered via Zoom on Wednesdays at 5pm (BST). There will also be a dedicated private Slack channel which will contain course materials; and allow attendees to network, upload their own pitches, and feedback on other peoples.

The course is structured as follows:

  • Week One: How to figure out what to talk about (Zoom workshop)

  • Week Two: What makes a good pitch? (Zoom workshop)

  • Week Three: Pitch Writing & Feedback (Slack)

  • Week Four: Final AMA & Wrap Up (Zoom workshop)

What we expect from attendees

This course requires attendees to devote 7 hours in total, over the month of September.  Places in this cohort are limited, so please only apply if you are able to:

  • Commit to attending the live Zoom workshop sessions (3 hours)

  • Commit to working on your speaker pitch outside the sessions (3 hours)

  • Commit to feeding back on at least one other attendee’s pitch (1 hour)

How can you participate?

As with everything in our community, this is a free global initiative that is only open to women. To apply, simply fill out the form below. The upcoming cohort will have a maximum of 8 attendees so the more detailed you are in your response, the more helpful it will be.
