Introducing Ashley Plack! Based in USA, Ashley is the founder of Strategist Marketing, leveraging data-driven digital strategies to drive business results. In her free time, you’ll find Ashley speaking at digital marketing conferences and on podcasts, mentoring marketing professionals, volunteering in the community, and teaching upper-level digital marketing courses at Towson University.

We asked her everything from how she first got into SEO to what empowers her to be the brilliant woman she is 💪🏽

How did you get into SEO?

I started working in marketing at a professional services firm, and I immediately recognized the huge potential impact SEO would have on their content marketing efforts. So I spent a large part of our digital marketing efforts optimizing existing content, and using SEO strategies to drive organic traffic and develop new content!

What is your favourite SEO task?

I love developing SEO strategies. At Strategist Marketing, we always start with an SEO audit and that data reveals a wealth of opportunities - so prioritizing those opportunities and developing strategies to win are a favorite.

What is your go-to tool or resource that you can't live without?

We've been developing a proprietary tool to help with reporting and aligning marketing and financial metrics; we're releasing a public beta for that soon!

What is something you learned in SEO that made you have an 'AHA' moment?

When I started digging deeper into customer experience, and aligned that with the technical skills I'd been honing for some time, I started to find not only that I was getting better at getting buy-in from clients and internal teams, as well as getting better results.

What is your proudest industry achievement?

Speaking at INBOUND was a bucket list item for me! And the experience of presenting among such a great group of people completely lived up to the hype.

What advice would you give women who are starting out in SEO?

SEO is an amazing field to be in! I'd encourage anyone starting out to enjoy the influx of information that's always coming in; in this field, you'll always be learning something new!

Give a shout out to a woman in the industry who inspires you and tell us why

I've been following Purna Virji for many years now, and always get a great takeaway from her presentations. Her passion for educating others always benefits me as an audience member!

Finally, what empowers you to be the brilliant woman you are?

I believe we all have unique capabilities and perspectives to share. Valuing my own unique abilities and learning from those of others has been key to my career in SEO!
