Introducing Nofisat Tolu Dopemu! Nofisat is a strategic and impactful professional with a talent for bringing clarity and structure to complex workflows. She enjoys hiking, teaching, content creation and she approaches her work with intention and a deep commitment to growth both personally and professionally.

How did you get into SEO?

A Google search led me to SEO! I searched 'how to become a social media manager'. I found a marketing agency through that search and pitched myself. Then, I was able to specialise in SEO after a few months.

What is your favourite SEO task?

I like content optimisation and strategy. I'm very interested in how SEO and CRO can amplify content in the age of AI.

What is your go-to tool or resource that you can't live without?

My go to tool would be Microsoft Excel. I do everything with it.

What is something you learned in SEO that made you have an 'AHA' moment?

Keyword research. The first time I saw over 100 keywords, my mind was blown. It felt like I had just broken the rules and was peeping into other people's browser history.

What is your proudest industry achievement?

Enhanced tracking of physical store traffic through the implementation of a local SEO strategy, resulting in a 40% increase in footfall to brick-and-mortar locations.

What advice would you give those who are starting out in SEO?

Ask questions. Don't do it all alone.

Join communities like WTS, Black women in Marketing, Girls in Marketing and Media for all to learn about industry events, gain access to mentorship and support.

Give a shout out to someone in the industry who inspires you, and tell us why

Rejoice Ojiakwu and Chima Mmeje. Rejoice is a brilliant person who is passionate about helping others grow their careers in the marketing industry. Through her community B-digital, she creates a safe space for Black talents to find opportunity, training and support. I don't know how she does it, but she shows up ever supportive and with knowledge. Chima is also passionate about helping and supporting BIPOC marketers through her community FCDC (Freelance coalition for developing countries). She's a leading SEO voice and is not afraid to share practical examples and case studies that have worked for her.

Finally, what empowers you to be the brilliant person you are?

I want to die empty. Knowing that I shared my knowledge and I empowered others.
